DT11's Big Green Week!

Green WeekDT11’s Green Week was held between 4 and 10 July 2010. Around 18 events took place including a butterfly walk on Milldown, Blandford,  a garden clean-up with the Winterborne Whitechurch Scouts, and a pavement art event in Blandford. There was  also a green fair held at the Corn Exchange in Blandford, which a number of green businesses attended with displays on renewable technologies such as photovoltaic panels for generating electricity, wood pellet boilers and ground source heat pumps. Other stallholders included wildlife organisations like Butterfly Conservation, and local businesses selling eco-products.

This was Blandford’s first green week, and the event organisers would like to run a similar programme in 2011. Some of the events this year were not very well-attended, and it is recognised that next time more and earlier publicity will be needed. However, this year was a good start, and local environmental organisations have expressed an interest in working together on future events.

Anyone who would like to be involved in helping to organise and run Green Week 2011should call the DT11 Forum Community Partnership office on 01258 489998 or email office@dt11forum.org.uk.
